This quaint North Carolina town still retains its character and charm today. Boiling Springs, NC is located in Cleveland County, in the foothills between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the North Carolina coast. Charlotte with its international airport, university and abundance of attractions, among others the Carolina Panthers, is nearby. Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway to the West and the Atlantic coast with endless beaches to the East are only a short drive from Boiling Springs.
It’s the perfect location for a slower pace of life. The chirping of birds, the rustle among the trees and the occasional splash in the slowly meandering river give us a sign to pause and “hear the silence”. What could be more rejuvenating and inspiring?
Boiling Springs, NC was settled around 1843, becoming a gathering place around the bubbling waters from two underground natural springs. The town was incorporated in 1911 by Gardner and has since become home to the Gardener-Webb University, a variety of shops, restaurants, beautiful homes and friendly neighbors. There are plenty of amenities, parks and recreation areas to meet, have picnics or just sit and reflect.
Only three miles from Boiling Springs flows the Broad River. Native Americans, such as the Cherokees and Catawbas were already drawn to the river’s rich resources long ago. This natural waterway originates in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and its vibrant ecosystem is still teeming with wildlife today. Moderate currents are perfect for canoeing, tubing or fishing for bass, bluegill and catfish. Hiking and walking trails reveal nature’s jewelry: colorful wildflowers, red and pink Rhododendron, wild Azaleas, purple and yellow Jack-in-the Pulpit, and other brilliant floral species dot the landscape.
A year-round comfortable climate, the natural beauty of the area and the central location between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the North- and South Carolina coast are hard to find assets. Not surprisingly, Boiling Springs continues to grow as more people make their home right here. It’s all you could desire, a sense of heritage, excellent choices for outdoor recreation, entertainment, arts, shopping or dining and last, but not least, Cleveland County is home to the largest county fair in North Carolina.
