East Bay is the new jewel of Florida’s Emerald Coast
The Real Estate Home Guide, a leading internet real estate portal, announces its association with the coastal town of EastBay, a new urbanism approach to coastal living in the Florida Panhandle. EastBay offers a progressive, environmentally sensitive neighborhood development that enhances the environment through preservation and green building principles. These building practices provide for Florida Cracker style homes which achieve a remarkable near zero energy rating. The town planners are Dover Kohl Partners, who have created an outstanding design using new urban planning principles which includes a retail village featuring mixed use, live and work multi-family town homes and single family homes.
Situated near the Gulf of Mexico, the Intracoastal Waterway and St. Andrews Bay, boating, fishing, sailing, cruising, canoeing, kayaking, and many other water sports are available to residents from the nearby deepwater marinas. East Bay is planned to celebrate the Panhandle’s coastal way of life with a waterfront plan reflecting the town’s commitment to environmental responsibility and the safekeeping of its homes. East Bay is an ideal location for a waterfront homesite to build on, a primary residence, a second or vacation home, featuring amenities such as a community swimming pools and miles of cobblestone streets.
The Information Center will illustrate EastBay’s Classic Florida Cracker architecture, according to Town Founder Julius Poston. “The Information Center is actually designed as a coastal village. We’re planning a collection of Florida Cracker cottages, complete with outdoor rooms and screened porches to take advantage of our waterfront,” he said. “We have a full calendar of events planned at the Information Center that will emphasize the authenticity of EastBay’s way of life, as well as educate the public on responsible ways to enjoy our unique environment.”
“To these simple forms are added porches which provide shade to both the structures and their residents,” added Tony Vallee, also of the EastBay architect team. “Residential and small commercial structures are wood framed, typically with metal roofs and either wood, masonry or more traditionally stacked stone pier foundations.”
Dover Kohl Partners of Miami, are known for their award-winning designs for Glenwood Park in Atlanta, I’On in South Carolina and Draper Lake in South Walton County, Florida.
