Iuka, Mississippi is often referred to as "Gateway to Mississippi”. The city is located in Tishomingo County in the extreme northeastern corner of Mississippi just miles from the Tennessee and Alabama state lines. Iuka was named after a Chickasaw Indian Chief Iuka who camped near the Mineral Springs to partake of the medicinal waters. Iuka is also close to the Mississippi river on the Tennessee – Tombigbee waterway (one of the largest projects ever endeavored by the Corp of Engineers) which required more earth to be moved than the Panama Canal. The regional port can facilitate ships with its cranes that can unload up to 300 tons.

The area hosts even more water than the Mississippi waterway, it also has the 47,500 acre Pickwick Lake and Bay Springs Lake and is home to the largest fresh water marina in the United States.
